The University of Virginia’s Undergraduate Research Network, formally known as the Center for Undergraduate Excellence, advises students regarding undergraduate research opportunities and national scholarships and fellowships. They are located in the Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library, next to Alderman Library. They encourage students to visit the Center throughout their undergraduate careers.
The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma is the sole professional chemistry fraternity at the University of Virginia. The chapter unites a diverse group of men and women, collegiate and professional, from various fields and backgrounds with a passion for chemistry and science. Many of our brothers are highly involved in science departments at the university as professors, researchers, and teaching assistants. The chapter works closely with the Chemistry Department and partners with Charlottesville schools and organizations to create opportunities for our community to become involved in the sciences. We aim to foster the positive relationship between science and community by putting on several service events throughout the year. Virginia Biotechnology Association (VABIO) promotes the scientific and economic impact of the life sciences industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia by hosting regional events, often in partnership with the local technology councils, to help bioscience professionals network with their neighbors. At the University level, the VABIO Chapter at UVA is dedicated to provideing outreach based opportunities for both area high schools and university students, with events ranging from laboratory shadowing experiences for high schoolers to local biotechnology company tours for university students.
University of Virginia Office of the Dean of Students supports student learning and interpersonal growth that creates engaged citizen leaders.
