Chemistry Graduate Student Megan Garris Awarded Fellowship for Graduate Student Collaborative Drug Discovery Projects

Chemistry PhD candidate Megan Garris has been awarded the first Fellowship for Graduate Student Collaborative Drug Discovery Projects. The award is presented by UVA’s Drug Discovery Services and funded by the Cancer Research Training and Education Core.

The fellowship funds a graduate student pursuing a cancer-related drug discovery project that involves collaboration between two or more mentors. Drug Discovery Services provides resources to researchers to help advance various therapies to patients.

Garris is a member of the Cliff Stains Group. She received her Bachelor of Science from West Virginia University and joined the Stains group in the fall of 2023. The stipend and tuition provided by the fellowship will support her work in the lab during the 2024-25 academic year. It will also allow her to work with Kwon-Sik Park, PhD, Associate Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology.

Congratulations to Megan on this outstanding achievement.
