Sarah Weisflog Wins ACS Bridge Travel Award

Sarah Weisflog, an undergraduate researcher in the Gilliard group, is a 2020 American Chemical Society Bridge Travel Award winner in the amount of $2,000. Sarah’s research concerns the synthesis and photophysics of p-block element materials. Sarah recently published her second paper entitled, "Planar, Stair-stepped, and Twisted: Modulating Structure and Photophysics in Pyrene- and Benzene-Fused N-Heterocyclic Boranes” where she contributed key studies on substituent effects in luminescent NHBs. Sarah was also selected from a competitive pool of applicants to participate in UVA’s Summer Research Internship Program (SRIP) in biomedical research hosted by the School of Medicine (cancelled due to the Coronavirus).
