Chemical Education Research

Chemical education researchers at UVa focus on transforming STEM instruction at the undergraduate level by studying faculty and teaching assistants. In particular, we explore STEM instructors’ cognition, belief systems, instructional practices, as well as the contextual factors that influence their teaching. The research teams employ qualitative (e.g., interviews, analysis of course artifacts, observations) and quantitative methods.
