Chemistry Minor

Download Form to Declare a Minor in Chemistry

A minor in chemistry requires the successful completion of the following courses:

  • CHEM 1410, 1411, 1420, 1421, 2410, 2411, 2420, 2421
    OR
  • CHEM 1610, 1611, 1620, 1621, 2410, 2411, 2420, 2421
    OR
  • CHEM 1810, 1811, 1820, 1821, 2810, 2811, 2820;
    AND
  • CHEM 3410

Although not prerequisites,  it is STRONGLY recommended that students take the following courses PRIOR to taking CHEM 3410 or 3610:

  • MATH 1210, 1220 or 1310, 1320 – Calculus I and II
  • PHYS 2010, 2020 or 1425, 2415, or 1610 – 2620 – Physics I and II
  • PHYS 2030, 2040 or 2630, 2640 – Physics Laboratory I and II
  • One other chemistry course at the 3000-level or higher (except chemistry research courses).  CHEM 3721 may be presented as the elective course.

Warning: University policy does NOT allow required courses in your departmental major to be double counted towards your major and your minor. For example, chemical engineers can not apply their required CHEM 3610 towards a chemistry minor; additional chemistry courses would have to be added. If you have questions consult with an adviser.
