2026-2027 Chemistry Fellowship Recipients

Fellowships

Congratulations to our outstanding students for receiving a Chemistry Fellowship for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Erin Lawrence (Pompano Lab): The Hunt Fellowship, established by former students and donors to honor the accomplishments of Professor Donald F. Hunt, a faculty member of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia from 1968-2023. Professor Hunt is a leader in bioanalytical chemistry and mass spectrometry.

Sarah Newkirk (Pires Lab): The Hecht Fellowship, established by Professor Sidney Hecht whose mid-career spanned 28 highly prolific and influential years in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia. Currently at Arizona State University, Professor Hecht is a leader in biological chemistry and a great friend and benefactor of our Department.

Mason Ortiz (Harman Lab): The Adam Ritchie Outstanding Graduate Student  Award, established in remembrance of Adam Ritchie (UVa Ph.D., 1968).
